It’s one thing to want to be good, to do good, to live a good life … it’s another thing entirely to know how to achieve that. If you want to fly a plane you’d better take some flying lessons, wouldn’t you agree? And living life is far more complicated than flying a plane, let me tell you.
So when it comes to changing the patterns of behaviour that, honestly, are robbing us of the good life we wish we had – our bad habits, snapping at people, ignoring them, whatever … we need to know how to do that.
Now, God’s already blessed us with the power, the ability, the gifts we need to live the sort of life we want to live. So now it’s time to cooperate with Him to achieve that:
2 Peter 1:3,5 Jesus has the power of God. And his power has given us everything we need to live a life devoted to God … Because you have these blessings, do all you can to add to your life these things: to your faith add goodness; to your goodness add knowledge.
Today, we’re focussing on that last bit – goodness and knowledge. And friend, God’s Word is cram-packed full of His wisdom: Wisdom that explains things and, even more importantly, Holy Spirit wisdom that empowers us with His power – to change. So to your faith, add goodness and to your goodness, add knowledge.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
