Who is Christianityworks?

Christianityworks is a not-for-profit Christian ministry founded by Back to the Bible USA, in Australia way back in 1957. Our passion is to share the Good News of Jesus with you and millions of other people each week.

We do that by producing Christian radio and television programs that are broadcast by stations around the world, as well as here on this website. We also produce books, booklets and other literature. It’s all about sharing the love of Christ with you and countless others, right into the real life issues that we each deal with day to day.

Since our inception all those years ago, our success has depended on the donations that we receive from generous supporters like you.

In Australia, Christianityworks is incorporated as the Good News Broadcasting Association Limited.

In the USA, Christianityworks is incorporated as Christianityworks Inc.

In South Africa Christianityworks is incorporated as Christianityworks NPC

In India Christianityworks is incorporated as Christianityworks Trust

Your Acceptance of this Privacy Policy

This policy is effective from 1 January 2018. Your continued use of this site and interaction with Christianityworks means that you are happy for us to use your personal information as described in this policy. We may change this policy by updating this page so please check back from time to time.

If you disagree with this policy, please do not use our websites, mobile applications, social media pages, etc.

What Data is Covered by this Policy?

This policy covers information about or linked to a natural person (personal information). It includes data we obtain from you, like your name, email address, phone number, IP address, or mobile device’s unique identifier, and may include some financial and/or faith information.

We do not engage any third parties to discover any further information about you – e.g. financial information. We may however use publicly available data (e.g. telephone listings) to clarify or complete the information that we hold about you.

Should you give a donation to Christianityworks, we do receive information from financial gateways about the success or failure of the transaction, but not any additional information about you.

Why does Christianityworks collect and store Personal Information?

We aim to communicate meaningfully with you and our other friends and supporters by post, email, text and phone. Our communications may include news about our progress and ways that you might help us accomplish our Christian mission to serve others.

We therefore utilise the information that we store about you, including but not limited to your giving history, free offer requests, written records of conversations that we have had with you, text and other messages, etc to help customise the way in which we communicate with you.

We also use the information that we have stored about you, to form a part of the internal analysis and reporting that helps us manage the ministry effectively.

And finally, we are obliged to meet the regulatory, record-keeping and reporting requirements of various governments in the jurisdictions where we operate.

Does Christianityworks Track Your Browsing History?

When you visit any of our websites, in most cases, we will know the last page that you were on before you came to our website. We also know where you go on our websites, how long you stay, and which buttons/links/panels you click.

We capture and retain all of this information, to help us analyse the effectiveness of our website’s design and layout. We may also use this information in combination with other information that we store about you (as set out above) to customise your web experience with us, and to tailor our communications with you.

What does that mean? Here is a practical example. Let’s say that you have already subscribed to the daily devotional that we offer. We may use that information, in combination with your movement around the website, to replace offers of devotional subscription, with other offers which you have not yet received.

It’s all about enhancing the experience for you.

Importantly, we will never, ever track your browsing once you leave our websites.

Does Christianityworks Use Cookies?

We do use cookies to help us provide you with a better online experience. Most browsers automatically accept cookies but you can modify your browser setting to decline cookies.

Some of these cookies may expire at the end of your session on our sites, others may be what are known as “persistent cookies”, so that when you return, we are able to customise your experience based on what we know about your past visits.

You can usually use the browser that you are viewing us through (or application settings) to enable, disable or delete cookies. To do this, follow the instructions provided by your browser or mobile telephone (usually located within the “Help”, “Tools” or “Edit” settings).

Please note that if you set your browser to disable cookies, you may not be able to access secure areas of our sites and other parts of our sites may also not work properly.

Does Christianityworks Share Your Data With Anyone?

Christianityworks is required to share your data with other organisations/service providers in the following circumstances:

(1) With financial gateway and service providers in order to process your donations and payments. This is normal and is done by any organisation that allows financial transactions to be completed. It is necessary to pass your data through one or more electronic gateways, to be processed by your bank or ours.

(2) One or more of those gateways may retain your credit card and payment information. For instance, the credit card information of supporters who elect to give automated recurring donations, is stored by such a service provider who has security systems that have been hardened to a much greater extent than we would ever possibly be able to do. It is for this reason that such information is held there, and not within our systems. We never retain credit card or other account information in our systems, for security reasons.

(3) Christianityworks uses commercially available email and SMS tools, to communicate with our friends and supporters via email and SMS. In order to communicate effectively with you through these means, we do store a limited amount of data about you in those systems. However, this information is held securely, within our account with these service providers, much in the same way as your bank account information for instance, is held securely for you by your bank. In other words, it is not shared with any other party.

(4) Christianityworks may use the information that we store about you in our systems, to identify any account that you may have in social media, so that we can communicate with you through those means. We may also use your information, aggregated with the information of others, to identify other people in social media, with similar interests to your own. Again, whilst we may use your information in this way to reach others with the Gospel, your information is not shared with anyone else and therefore is held securely and privately.

(5) Christianityworks also engages advisors and suppliers who may, from time to time, have access to your personal information. These include our systems developers (this function may be outsourced) and donor communications advisors. Where we do this, those advisors, suppliers, their employees and agents are bound by strict confidentially agreements which survive beyond their term of work with us. We restrict the information that they are able to see, so that they only have access to that information that they require, to do the work that they have been contracted to do for us.

(6) From time to time governments may require reporting about the donations received by Christianityworks. Where we are, by law, required to comply with these requirements, we will always meet those legal obligations.

(7) In the event that law enforcement or other government agencies make a legal request for information in any jurisdiction in which we operate, we will always endeavour to cooperate and provide the information being sought, provided that the request is a legal one. For example, if it is a legal requirement for a law enforcement agency to require a warrant in order to request the information, we will insist that a warrant is obtained and served.

Beyond these things, we will never share, swap, lease or sell your information to any other organisation. To the contrary. We make our very best endeavours to hold your information completely confidential, between yourself and us.

How SecurE are Christianityworks’ Systems?

No online system can ever be considered to be 100% secure – that much is evident from the high profile hacking events that periodically make the news.

However, here at Christianityworks, we make every effort to ensure that where appropriate, data is securely transmitted, and that all data that we do hold is held in industry standard, secure data stores, using best practice security measures.

To this end, we regularly update software, operating systems and where required, hardware, to ensure maximum protection against unauthorised access to data.

We have also put a number of security hardening features (which we do not detail publicly for obvious reasons) around our website and data storage systems to guard against unauthorised access.

Does Christianityworks Send Correspondence to People Who Visit our Sites?

If you provide us with your email and/or postal address and/or phone details in response to a free offer that we have made to you, or as a part of a donation or other financial transaction, Christianityworks reserves the right to send you emails and/or hard copy letters (as appropriate) with additional free offers, ministry content and, on occasion, requests for prayer and financial support.

However, you are easily able to request – at any time – that we no longer send you this correspondence. Should you do so, we undertake to comply with your request as quickly as is practicable.
