Download audio fileThe older we get, the more it can feel as though the baggage of the past is weighing us down. And the longer we carry that baggage around with us, the heavier it gets … until at some point, we just drop exhausted.
Did you know that every three months your bloodstream is totally renewed? Every twelve months each cell in your body is replaced with a new one. And every eighteen to twenty-four months your whole bone structure is renewed? That’s incredible!
It seems that God’s plan is constantly to renew everything about us – to replace the old with something completely new. So roughly every two years, the person looking back at you in that mirror is a completely new creation.
It’s amazing people go to all this trouble to look better and feel better. They even have surgery to make it happen. And yet, ever few months, we’re completely renewed.
Yes, the body ages and eventually we all die. But God’s built these amazing creations called you and me that have been specifically designed to be constantly renewed – not just your body but your soul and spirit as well.
The Apostle Paul wrote this a long time ago:
2 Corinthians 5:17 So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! (NRSV)
And you know something – that’s exactly what happens when you enter into a relationship with Jesus. Whatever baggage, whatever regrets, whatever hurts from the past that you may be carrying around with you, they become about as relevant as the dead skin cells that fall off your body every minute of every day.
Do you believe in Jesus? Then you are a new creation. The past is irrelevant. Everything is new. Now that’s good news. That’s where your new life begins … right here and now.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
