Proverbs 25:2,3 It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out. Like the heavens for height, like the earth for depth, so the mind of kings is unsearchable. (NRSV)

Have you ever felt that you’re living life in a rut? You know what they say – a rut is just a grave with the ends kicked out. But believe it or not, God has given you the capacity to get out of that rut!

Here’s what I’ve noticed when I’ve been head-down, slaving away in a ruts as though there’s no way out. It stifles your imagination and creativity – the very capacity that our imaginative and creative God has woven into our DNA.

Love it or hate it, Apple technology is known for its innovation and stylish design. It’s what’s set it apart and, for a time at least, made it the most valuable company in the world. Much of that comes down to the creativity and imagination of its chief design officer of many years, Sir Jonny Ive, who once said this:

I’m terrified and disgusted when people are absolutely without curiosity. It’s at the root of so much social dysfunction and conflict.

That’s pretty “in your face”, yet it relates directly to what we’re chatting about today because curiosity is the spark that ignites our imagination and creativity. It’s the first step out of that rut you’ve been in. But don’t just take my word for it. Here’s God on that very same thing:

Proverbs 25:2,3 It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out. Like the heavens for height, like the earth for depth, so the mind of kings is unsearchable. (NRSV)

Yes, God does hide and conceal things. But it’s a glorious thing when we, who are created in His image, become curious enough to search things out. That’s the first step out of your rut!

And that’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
