नीतिवचन 27:1 कल के दिन के विषय में मत फूल, क्योंकि तू नहीं जानता कि दिन भर में क्या होगा।.

So, can I ask you, what are your plans for tomorrow, the next day … next week, next month, next year. Some people plan a lot, others much less, but we all have hopes and dreams for the future, don’t we?

Life is incredibly fragile, and yet when things are bubbling along just fine, it’s easy to be lulled into a false sense of security. We start imagining that our future is completely in our hands.

Late last year, things were bubbling along just fine. My wife and I were about to head off on a holiday that we’d been planning for quite a while.

But the week before we were about to head off on our vacation, my 92-year-old mother had a fall, my 82-year-old mother-in-law was rushed to hospital for an emergency operation, and all of a sudden our plans were thrown into disarray.

You’ve no doubt been there too. Everything’s fine, until it’s not.

Proverbs 27:1 Never brag about what you will do in the future; you have no idea what tomorrow will bring.

The truth is that whilst you and I can plan things, and whilst some or most of those plans will likely come off, we simply don’t know what tomorrow will bring. Our future’s in God’s hands, not ours.

That’s why drawing close to Him, listening to that gentle whisper of His Spirit when we’re making our plans, is so important. He knows what the future holds and because He loves us so much, He will guide us by His Spirit in the plans we make.

Surprises will still come, but they’re no surprise to God. Don’t brag about tomorrow, but humbly rest your plans in His hands.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
