Download audio fileThe statistics tell us that the world over, including in the developing world, things are getting better. Fewer people are starving. Poverty is reducing. Sure we have a very long way to go, but as things get better, sad to say, people are more divided than ever.
It doesn’t matter which country you travel to. People are so incredibly divided and it seems to be getting worse. They’re divided over politics, ideologies, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, skin colour. Why can’t we all play together nicely? Why can’t we disagree, and yet still be kind and respectful of one another?
Here in Australia where I live, January 26th is Australia Day, when we commemorate the beginning of white settlement back in 1778. Yet even Australia Day, which should bring us together, is divisive because of course white settlement was for a very long time anything but good news for the Aboriginal population. White folk treated them appallingly for a very long time.
Still today, sad to say, there’s racism on both sides of that fence. It’s the same the world over. So, what’s the answer?
Galatians 3:28 Now, in Christ, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Greek, a slave or free, male or female. You are all the same in Christ Jesus.
It doesn’t matter who you are, where you were born, the colour of your skin, what you believe or don’t, and how different you are from the next person – we’re all the same. We’re all made in the image of God. And every person, agreeable or disagreeable though they may be, is loved by God just as much as you and I are.
The sooner we get that, the sooner all this ugly conflict dies down. Yes, by all means disagree, but do it in love. There’s no grey area here. It’s black and white.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Thank you for your message this morning. It was something great to wake up to. My friend who has a smart phone stayed the night and it was a joyful morning to be able to wake up to the wonderful selection of daily devotions on a smartphone when you’ve never had one before nor can afford one.
