Download audio fileHere’s a truth that I hope will shake you up a little bit: the more you have your face buried in your smartphone screen, the less time you’ll spend dreaming about the future. And the less time you spend dreaming, the narrower your life will become.
When we’re young, we all have dreams for how our lives are going to turn out. After all, that’s what you do when you’re young – you dream. But pretty soon the reality of eeking out an existence takes over. The dreams die, and that’s sad because the result is that all too many people miss out on the amazing things that God has in store for them.
Dreaming, letting your imagination roam freely over hill and dale, as it turns out, is an incredibly important thing to do.
We all daydream from time to time, but for some reason we often think of daydreaming as something of a negative. Would it surprise you to know that one of the most common attributes of great leaders in particular is the ability to dream; to project their God-given creativity into the future and imagine what might be possible; to let their mind wander, to explore possibilities, to visualise the future. It’s one of the most important things that we can do.
Listen. God is an incredibly creative God, wouldn’t you agree?
Genesis 1:27 So God created humans in his own image. He created them to be like himself. He created them male and female.
And since you and I are created in His image, that means that you and I are incredibly creative too.
What a pity it is that so many people allow the busyness of life, the narrowness of their circumstances, the pressures of today, to crowd out their dreams of tomorrow.
You are incredibly creative. Dream dreams and you’ll be amazed at what God does with them.
That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
