Psalm 136:1-3 Praise the Lord because he is good. His faithful love will last forever. Praise the God of gods! His faithful love will last forever. Praise the Lord of lords! His faithful love will last forever.

Download audio fileDo you ever find that humdrum getting you down? Why does every day seem to be the same as the last? And yet, right there in the midst of the bog ordinary, there is so much joy to be found.
Life is mostly made up of ordinary things, to the point that they can start to feel a bit mundane. But it needn’t be so.
I was at the barber’s the other day having my hair cut, and as I sat in the barber’s chair my eyes wandered around in the mirror. You know how it goes.
Anyhow, in the chair to my left, was this man in his mid-thirties having his short hair, cut even shorter. He looked so cool and yet, I thought to myself, “Berni, you’d look ridiculous with a haircut like that.” And I was right!!
To my right was an older guy who must have been 95 not out. I looked at him and thought, “I would love to hear about your life.” Imagine the stories he could have told us sitting there in those chairs. We had the time.
And waiting on the bench behind us was a young boy, ten or eleven I’m guessing, with dark skin that just made his huge smile seem even huger!
As I sat there, I thought to myself, “It is so great to be alive. We’re all so different. Young, old. Black, white. Short hair, long hair.” And then … there’s God.
Psalm 136:1-3 Praise the Lord because he is good. His faithful love will last forever. Praise the God of gods! His faithful love will last forever. Praise the Lord of lords! His faithful love will last forever.
God is so creative. And, well, it’s so good to be alive. Right there in the middle of the bog ordinary.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Sometimes it’s hard being a Christian and the reason why I say this is because I trusted Christ as my savior when I was seven years old but God is still taking me through the valleys he’s teaching me how to rely upon him when I still do wrong that’s the coolest thing I’ve been saved by grace His grace.

Thanks for those thoughts of Psalm 136 today, life is challenging at times these days here looking after family in their 90’s now, yet we do have a bright spots along the way. Blessings Malcolm
