Download audio fileChristians use so much jargon. Sin, salvation, Messiah, Saviour. Seriously? I wonder how many people who use those words truly, truly, in their heart of hearts, understand what they mean – especially that word, Saviour.
We all know that life has its ups and downs. We know that. But deep down, we always kind of expect that, for us at least, it should mostly be ups. Those downs … truly, they’re for other people, right?
But life’s not like that. Sometimes we’re hit by a huge storm. Other times it’s an accumulation of little things that get you down, one after the other. You can’t really point to any one thing in particular, but you just feel like you’re drowning.
Have you ever felt that? It doesn’t make sense, but there you have it. It happens.
I used to wonder why they referred to Jesus as “Saviour”. What an odd term, it seemed to me … until I was drowning. Now you have to understand, I’m a pretty “together” kind of guy, by and large. But like all of us, I came to a point, quite a few years ago now, where I just couldn’t keep going.
And it was right in the middle of that, that I understood what that “Saviour” thing was actually all about. Because when I reached out to Jesus out of sheer desperation, when I had nowhere else to turn, He was there.
1 John 4:14 We have seen that the Father sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world, and this is what we tell people.
This term “Saviour” isn’t just a religious term. It’s not mere theory or theology. It’s real. Very real. So wherever you find yourself right at the moment, reach out to Him. He is here.
Jesus. My Saviour. Your Saviour.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Hi Berni Dymet,
Let me tell you that over the past few days, I have not been able to listen to your audible FRESH, the only offering has been your written version and that’s ok, I thought perhaps that there was some type of system error, because I went over to your christianity works web site to check it out and I noticed that all of your previous FRESH were still available to listen to and to read but not the past 2 or 3.
This morning I noticed FRESH was absent entirely from my email in box and normally your FRESH is there before 5am.
Not this morning.’
So I took myself to the christianity works web site again and there it was Today’s FRESH devotional .
I thought a lot of thoughts regarding the absence from my private email and wondered if I had, perhaps been removed from receiving your FRESH daily devotions or that I was not welcome and my thoughts were negative and so I quickly scanned your written devotional titled MY SAVIOUR, YOUR SAVIOUR and I pondered it some more and then at 8.25am I found that your daily FRESH devotional landed into my email and I was smiling outwardly and inwardly .
Berni, I enjoy reading your FRESH and listening because right at the very end of your audible, you always add a few extra lines, that aren’t available in writing.
I really find your few extra lines to be quite powerful and so not being able to listen for a few days was bland somewhat but still seasoned with salt of course .

6So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.
7These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold-though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honour on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
We must hold on and trust in God and yes, He is Very Real, God really is with us all the time and it’s in that moment of a millisecond perhaps a pause of silence within, that we can actually sense with one of our senses GOD and God is 3 in 1 Our Father, His son and The Holy Spirit.’
God shows up for us each at individual times and it’s a personal encounter that we in our hearts will ‘know’ so it’s up to us to trust and too walk in faith and to not lose sight of our LORD, OUR SAVIOUR (psalm 23) and to persevere for it is written.
