Acts 8:32,33 Now the passage of the Scripture that he was reading was this: “Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he opens not his mouth. In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? For his life is taken away from the earth. (ESV)
Listen to the radio broadcast of Oh Please!
Download audio fileYou see some amazing things on social media … I mean, mind blowing stuff. None more so than the mass delusion of people who call themselves Christians. How can people wander so far from the truth?
So … recently I came across a post by a well-known, so-called Christian musician with over 735,000 followers. Here’s what he said: It’s time Christians stand up for themselves and start boycotting people who disrespect our faith.
That post garnered 74,000 likes, 65,000 comments and 5,500 shares. Really? Is that what Jesus taught us? Is that how we should behave? Really?!
Back in the book of Acts, Philip the evangelist comes across a wealthy Ethiopian and shares the good news of Jesus with him. He chooses to quote a passage from the Prophet Isaiah, which foretold of the coming of Christ.

Just as well Jesus – the very Son of God – didn’t stand up for Himself. Just as well He didn’t boycott those who disrespected Him to the point of nailing Him to a cross. Just as well!
Listen to me. This self-promoting, prideful Christian tribalism has nothing whatsoever to do with the Good News of Jesus. We aren’t called to stand up for ourselves. We’re called to lay down our lives for others. We’re not called to be right; we’re called to love people into the kingdom of God.
Have nothing to do with the false doctrine of Christian tribalism. Instead, be like Jesus.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
