1 Peter 1:18,19 You know that in the past the way you were living was useless. It was a way of life you learned from those who lived before you. But you were saved from that way of living. You were bought, but not with things that ruin like gold or silver. You were bought with the precious blood of Christ’s death. He was a pure and perfect sacrificial Lamb.

Speaking as someone who turned the “healthy, wealthy and wise” thing into something of an art form, who set out down that path with all the energy and gusto that I could muster, I can tell you, hand on heart, that my journey down the road of self-fulfilment was an unmitigated disaster.
Not because I didn’t gain any of the things that I craved – success, recognition, money, career – but because when I did, I discovered that they didn’t satisfy. I discovered that there is no fulfilment in self. I’d sacrificed much of my life to the mirage of self-fulfilment, as many, many people do.
So when I came across these words from the Apostle Peter, man did they strike a chord:
1 Peter 1:18,19 You know that in the past the way you were living was useless. It was a way of life you learned from those who lived before you. But you were saved from that way of living. You were bought, but not with things that ruin like gold or silver. You were bought with the precious blood of Christ’s death. He was a pure and perfect sacrificial Lamb.
The useless life? Absolutely. A life devoid of force and truth and real results. A life that had no purpose. Have you ever felt like that?
Well, Jesus came to ransom you out of that life. To purchase you back, not with money but with His life. Jesus paid the ultimate price to give you a life of meaning and purpose. Don’t waste it.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
