I love to write and to communicate. Always have and, I suspect, I always will. Which is why blogging is a bit of a hobby of mine. Early on, when I set up my blog site, a friend of mine introduced me to a tool, a “plug-in” it’s called, for my blog site, to do search engine optimisation. What does that mean?

Well, this tool organises information about each post on the blog site, so that when the various search engines on the internet come along – index that post, they can do a better job of it and that means, in turn, that you’ll find it easier to find my site when you do a related search. That one tool, that “plug-in” opened up a whole new world to me, and since I implemented it the visits have gone up dramatically.

So that got me to thinking – it’s a bit like that with the Bible. The more time I spend in God’s Word, the more familiar I become with it, then the more – in those difficult times, in times of crisis, in times when I’m searching for answers – the Holy Spirit brings God’s Word to recollection for me.

It’s like that search engine optimisation tool – Access is fast; often instant; on demand; just when I need it. And when that happens, God’s Word makes such a powerful difference.

You see …

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

But you just have to know where to find it. You need to be familiar enough with the Bible, so that when some crisis hits, when some perplexing problem comes along, when you don’t know which way to turn, then, the Holy Spirit comes along and quickly brings the right Scripture passage to mind.

To be honest, I’m not all that good at memorising Scripture. And I’m often not that good at knowing exactly where in the Bible to find a verse. Getting better sure, but a long way to go.

Although that doesn’t always matter because the Holy Spirit, is so good at giving me His Word, just when I need it. But it wasn’t always like that. My blog site didn’t become easy to find, until I installed that search engine optimisation tool. And unless and until you and I become regular readers, daily readers of God’s Word, it’s the same thing. We’re not giving the Holy Spirit anything to work with.

But get plugged into God’s Word, day after day, and it is mind-blowingly amazing just how quickly and how powerfully God’s Word comes to us … just when we need it.

Bottom line? Read your Bible. Every day.

Because it’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
