The Spirit of the Living God

John 14:15-17 If you love me, you will do what I command. I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper to be with you forever. The Helper is the Spirit of truth. The people of the world cannot accept him, because they don’t see him or know him. But you know him. He lives with you, and he will be in you.

If you had to explain to someone else what the Holy Spirit is like, what would you say? Why do I ask? Because the Holy Spirit plays a very, very important role in your relationship with Jesus.

There are times in all our lives, when we feel completely alone. Oh, there might well be people around you, but deep down inside, nobody seems to be able to connect to help you through whatever you’re going through.

But the good news is that that’s the very time when the Holy Spirit wants to touch you deep inside. Now, most of us can relate to God the Father and God the Son but for many, God the Holy Spirit is a complete mystery.

But He needn’t be, He shouldn’t be, because Jesus told us exactly what He’s like:

John 14:15-17 If you love me, you will do what I command. I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper to be with you forever. The Helper is the Spirit of truth. The people of the world cannot accept him, because they don’t see him or know him. But you know him. He lives with you, and he will be in you.

I want you to notice the two words “another Helper”. That word “another”, in the original Greek, literally means another one just like me. And the word for Helper – parakletos – also means comforter and advocate.

In other words, the Holy Spirit is just like Jesus and He dwells in you, to connect with you in a way that no one else can. Even in your most difficult hour, you are never alone because he lives with you, and he will be in you.

The Holy Spirit. The Comforter, just like Jesus.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Thank you so very much for these encouraging words about the Holy Spirit !! It is just what I need right now (and forever) my husband has abandoned me and is emotionally abusing me. If I leave him I will be homeless. While I’m going through this trial in my life, it’s wonderful to be reminded that I have the Holy Spirit (Jesus) with me always. God bless

Thanks very much Berni, I do feel the battle of two striking forces within myself every time when I come to read your message. I always wanted to be a true, strong and faithful believer in Christ as I believe his is the only truth of God revealed to humankind. Although as believers we find it is not easy to follow our Lord’s purpose, but I totally believe in what you are saying. The company of the Holy Spirt is our only hope and strength. Thanks Berni, you are not alone. My prayers and the others are with you. Let us keep praying for the power of the Holy Spirit our only hope to win this battle, and to fulfill God’s purpose for his people. God bless you Berni. Your brother in Christ.

Thank you. Hallelujah…the Holy Spirit is all of God in us and His power in us.

I often come into contact with lonely people living chaotic lifestyles and it reminds me how alone, lost and frightened I once was and would still be if I had not heard and accepted the Word. Living is scary and getting more so apart from God… I pray the world would come to it’s senses and realise that the only source of lasting hope, purpose, and contentment is God in and with us. Yet; the simplicity in which God gifts us life in all its abundance is hard to grasp in a world that confuses difficulty for value. God bless and keep you always….

‘Let the Holy Spirit of God live and dwell deeply within us and be our helper at all times, not just at our times of most need, and allow us to be infused with His presence, from deeply within, that we may be a living testimony, to the presence and love of God always and forever….In Jesus name…

Sandie
