Download audio fileHave you noticed how easy it is to just get into a routine in life, the same thing over and over again? Work, responsibilities, putting food on the table … and somewhere along the line, the creative you, that talented you … well, what happened to that person?
I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but God is incredibly creative. If all you knew about Him is what you read in Genesis Chapter 1, you’d have to come to that conclusion, wouldn’t you? He created everything. He spoke the whole universe into existence. And what an amazing universe, what an amazing world it is. Just imagine the creativity that that took!
But there’s something else that we discover in Genesis Chapter 1. It’s something about you and me:
Genesis 1:27 So God created humans in his own image. He created them to be like himself. He created them male and female.
So, the second thing we discover is that you and I are made in His image. So, you’d also have to conclude therefore, that you and I are incredibly creative people.
And you can see that inherent, God-breathed creativity being manifested over and over again around you. Architecture, art, music, mobile phone apps, games. It’s everywhere. People do amazing things because they’ve been created in the image of a stupendously creative God.
The problem is though, for you and me, that we have our day jobs. Our responsibilities. The day-to-day drudgery that enslaves us. We become battery hens, churning out the eggs, forgetting to do the creative things we so enjoy.
Well, today it’s time for a wake-up call. You are an incredibly creative person. So for Pete’s sake, will you get out there, be who God made you to be, bless the rest of us and bring God all the glory? Unleash your creativity, would you please.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
