Psalm 138:7,8 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me against the wrath of my enemies; you stretch out your hand, and your right hand delivers me. The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands. (NRSV)

Do you ever get the wobbles in your faith walk? Sure, you believe … but just in that moment, perhaps right here in this moment, it’s difficult to discern any rhyme or reason to God’s purpose for your life.

If you relate just a bit to that, then know that you’re not alone. We all get the wobbles from time to time, as the pressures, the burdens, the realities of life cloud our vision.

In fact, today’s Scripture is a powerful encouragement from God in the middle of any wobbles you may be experiencing, any doubts you may be having.

Psalm 138:8 The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands. (NRSV)

That was written by King David of Israel, who experienced so many difficult times in his life. In fact, in the verse immediately prior to that one, he says this:

Psalm 138:7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me against the wrath of my enemies; you stretch out your hand, and your right hand delivers me. (NRSV)

Many of David’s Psalms are reflections, looking back on his suffering, times when his life was threatened, and speaking back to God what He’d learned through those difficult times. And the overriding lesson, time and time again, is that God was in that place with Him. When he himself couldn’t, God could. When he himself was lost, God was there.

And when he himself found it difficult to maintain focus on God’s plan for him to be king over Israel, he knew that God hadn’t lost sight of His plan.

Listen … God will deliver you: He will fulfill His purpose for you, even when you have the wobbles. In fact, especially then. Because His steadfast love endures forever.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Hi Troy.
Interestingly, Berni has chosen not to do a Father’s-Day-specific devotional this year. Potentially, part of the reason could be that Father’s Day here in Australia isn’t until August. But there isn’t a Fathers Day special planned for them either. We have people from all over the world tuning into FRESH and so sometimes we may miss a day like this one. If you would like to hear a word on fatherhood from Berni you could definitely check out this FRESH post: A Fathers Love.
There’s also a beautiful, longer series on how God is our heavenly Father called The Father Heart of God that could also be what you’re looking for.

Your Friend in Christ,
Ethan.
