Amahubo 34:17,18 Labo bayakhala, uJehova uyezwa; uyabakhulula kuzo zonke izinhlupheko zabo. UJehova useduze nabo abanenhliziyo eyaphukileyo; uyabasindisa abanomoya odabukileyo. Ziningi izinhlupheko zolungileyo, kepha uJehova uyamkhulula kuzo zonke.
I don’t know about you, but I get up out of bed each day hoping and believing for the best. A new day, new opportunities … but some days, things simply don’t work out that way.
You know what I’m talking about. You get up with a good attitude and then it’s as though life tips a whole truckload of rubbish on your head, and it stinks. But I had good plans for today!
Well, guess what … things aren’t going to work out that way. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, right?! You feel discouraged as that sense of disappointment grips your heart. And if things go on like that for too long, despondency sets in.
Troubles are going to come at us in life, as they did for King David of Israel, when he penned these words:
Psalm 34:17,18 Pray to the LORD, and he will hear you. He will save you from all your troubles. The LORD is close to those who have suffered disappointment. He saves those who are discouraged.
It turns out that God is right there with you in the middle of your troubles. When your emotions are playing havoc with your life, when disappointment is dragging you down, when discouragement threatens to derail your life … God is there, smack bang in the middle of it with you. Yes, with you!
And that, my friend, is good news. The sort of news that I pray the Holy Spirit will write indelibly on your heart today for when you need it. So drink it in, rest in it and above all …
Pray to the LORD, and he will hear you. He will save you from all your troubles.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
