Levithikhusi 26:3-5 “ ‘Uma nihamba ngezimiso zami, nigcine imiyalo yami, niyenze, ngiyakuninika imvula ngesikhathi sayo, izwe lithele ukudla kwalo, imithi yasendle ithele izithelo zayo. Ukubhula kwenu kuyakufinyelela ekuvunweni kwemivini, ukuvunwa kwemivini kuyakufinyelela esikhathini sokulima; niyakudla isinkwa senu, nisuthe, nihlale ezweni lakini nilondekile.
Despite all the incredible advances in science down through the centuries – putting a man on the moon, inventing supercomputers that fit in the palm of your hand – the reality of life on this earth is actually pretty simple and basic.
I saw a photo of a crazy sign online recently, made by the Farm Equipment Association of Minnesota and South Dakota. This is what it said: Despite all our accomplishments, we owe our existence to a six inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.
Add to that sunshine and oxygen, and that’s pretty much it. That’s what it takes to sustain life on planet Earth. So why do we complicate things? It seems sometimes that amidst the wonders of the hi-tech age in which we live, we’ve lost sight of the simple, powerful blessings of God.
So today, let’s get back to basics:
Leviticus 26:3-5 Remember my laws and commands, and obey them. If you do these things, I will give you rains at the time they should come. The land will grow crops and the trees of the field will grow their fruit. Your threshing will continue until it is time to gather grapes. And your grape gathering will continue until it is time to plant. Then you will have plenty to eat. And you will live safely in your land.
And the most basic of all basics in our existence on this earth, in our relationship with the almighty, all-loving God who created it all? Here it is … and complicated it ain’t. Here’s the source of untold blessings and riches, more than the trinkets of this earth could ever offer you:
Remember my laws and commands, and obey them.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
